The acute inflammatory reaction should be starting
to settle. The tissues will need to be treated to clear
any residual swelling. Swelling that is not cleared
initially can start to consolidate and thicken. This
thickening can make the joint feel stiff and can also
be quite painful. Ultrasound, interferential and soft
tissue massage are often very helpful at this stage
to soften and clear this thickening tissue.
